Though Leitrim, the favourite in tho big sprint on the first day at Te Aroha, won all right, the son of Valkyriari had to be hunted along by Gray to secure the verdict by a neck from Lucy Rose, who put in some telling work in the straight and was only a neck away at the post. Though the favourites were completely bowled over in the Champion Hack' Cup at Te Aroha, the finish was a real beauty, and Spring Abbey, Te Hdia, and Helium, till at good prices, went past the judge almost in line, a dead-heat being declared between Spring Abbey and To Hoia, with Helium a neck away. ♦ # « Gay Crest duly signalised his recent change of owner and trainer hy scoring a very decisive win at the Banks Peninsula meeting. As he had been out of F. D. Jones’s-hands only a few days, that trainer’s is still the credit of ' getting the horse ready. The success popular as ths new owner, Dr. G. M. To train all three places horses in a handicap, as C. Gieseler did when Stealth, Money Mine, and Camisader finished in that order in the Autumn Handicap at Gore, is a most unusual occurrence in racing, but it is not the first time Gieseler has performed it, notes a Christchurch exchange. At tho spring meeting In 1925 of the Gore Club, Monoxide, Kilfane. and Happy Days finished in that order in a field of five in (lie Wuikitkn Handicap On that occasion nil three horses wore owned by Mr. A.
