cup day at flemington, BIG RACE TO NADEAN. [United Press Association—By CableCopyright] Melbourne, March 4. The weather was fine and warm for the races at Flemington, and the attendance was large. Touchwood finished well and won the Hopeful Stakes narrowly. He is a brother to Parkwood and was bred by the owners Malvin led always in the Elms Handicap, and his impressive victory was Ills third win in succession. He lias stalled only lour times. He is trained by the New Zealander \ in. O’Neill. Nightlark gave a brilliant display of jumping oml led always in the Steeples. He won easily, and is the most dashing fencer seen here in recent years.

Nadeau had a brilliant win in the Cup. and repeated Some Quality's feat of Inst year by winning the Port Adelaide Clip and the Australian Cup. Nadeau is owned nlid trained in Adelaide. The owner, M.r H. Lewis, attempted the rued in previous seasons with Our Prince and Llewellyn Nadean was one of the few starters to shine over the distance. She struck trouble at the bottom of the straight, hut finished with a brilliant run, and beat the New Zealand-bred Mystic Peak in the last stride.

When the field settled down Jeypore led from Bavaroy, Finsbury, Pendennis, and Nadean, with In Petto last; Passing the stand, Havaroy had taken command, and 'ed ten .furlongs from home from Jay pore, Finsbury, Pendennis, Nadean, and Cimbrian, while Oct.’iuber was with the rear division and Kidaides second to last. Near the half-mile Kendler dashed to the front and );4 tn the turn from Nadean, Pendennis, Cimbrian and Leadight, with Kidaides making up ground. Nadean took charge at the bottom of the straight, drawing right away to win by four lengths; three-quarters of a length between second and third; then Kendler. Some duality, Blackbird, Abergwain. Sir RibWlo and Octember with Mondiago last. Nineteen started. Time, 3.so}—an Australasian record.
