THE RAINBOW SHIELD. TO-NIGHT’S GRAND CARNIVAL The swimming public are given a filial reminden of the special carnival at the Mahora Baths this evening, for the Rainbow Shield. All arrangements are now complete and given a fine night, a bumper house is expected 1 . The programme includes swimming, diving, novelty and teams events and also a polo match between Heretaunga and Mahora. A glance at the handicaps will convince the public that some exciting finishes are expected. Club tickets are not available for admission this evening. Tho Havelock North weekly swimming carnival was held in the baths last evening but, owing no doubt to tl ? cold weather, the attendance was only fair. An added attraction was the" water polo match between members of the Havelock Fire Brigade and members of the club, which resulted in a win for the club by three goals to nil. the combination and nraotice of tho club proving too strong for the brigade; nevertheless in the second half the losers put up a strong defence and prevented any further goals being scored.
