WHIRLWIND’S PRANK
LIFTS COWSHED TO BACKDOOR. SURPRISE FOR FARMER. Opotiki, Feb. 5. A whirlwind which struck the farm of Mr A. Martin on the Woodlands Soldiers’ Settlement did considerable damage last week. Without warning the whirlwind, with terrific force, snapped off punga and wattle trees in the front garden, and carried away one end of the cowshed, depositing it at the back door of the house, a distance of about a hundred yards. The whirlwind was not felt anywhere else on the settlement. Air Martin was haymaking on a neighbour’s farm, and was considerably surprised he arrived home to discover what a lot of damage had been done during his absence.
