COAL DISPUTE
DISSENSIONS IN FEDERAL CABINET PROPOSED ACTION AGAINST PROPRIETORS. JUDGE’S ORDER IGNORED BY BOTH SIDES. [United Pre*, Association—By CableCopyright.l (Received 21, 10.25 a.m.) Svdnay, Dec. 21. The “Herald” says that the coal dispute has caused dissension in the ranks of the Federal Cabinet. It is understood that Mr. Beasley threatens to resign from the Federal Cabinet unless prosecutions are instituted against the State Minister of Mines, Mr. Weaver, Mr. John Brown and the coal owners under the Crimes Act. The Prime Minister, Mr Scullin, is making a special visit to Sydney to interview Mr. Beasley on the matter.
It is understood that at to-day's conference of Federal members, proposals will be submitted for decisive action against the colliery proprietors.
NO MINERS APPLY FOB WORK. [United Pre,, Association—By CableCopyright.) Sydney, Dec. 20. Messages from the northern coalfields state that no miners applied for work at any of the associated idle collieries in accordance with Judge Beeby’s order for reopening these mines. Neither did the coalowners make tho slightest effort to reopen them. The Judge’s order was thus ignored by both, sides. Coal-hewing is still proceeding smoothly at Rothbury and some trucks aro filled ready for transportation.
Approximately 2000 strikers marched to a small bush colliery called Myall Mine, near Cardiff, this morning, and induced non-union miners employed there to refrain from going to work. This colliery has been working riglft through the dispute until to-day.
