NINE KILLED
SERIES OF EXPLOSIONS FILM STUDIO WRECKED. SCENES OF CONFUSION, (United Press Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 11, 9.5 a.m.) New York, Dec. 10. At least nine persons—five meh and four women—were killed when a series of seven explosions of unknown origin wrecked and burned the Pathe sound film studio. Seventy-five people were in the building, over 20 being all ready to start recording when the first explosion occurred. It was rapidly followed by six more. These people attempted to rush the exits, as did 60 lightly-clad girls from the upstairr dressing room, but the swiftly mountin., and spreading flames prevented many escaping. Large quantities of fire apparatus and ambulances were rushed to the scene, but it was 25 minutes before the firemen were able to enter on account of the intense heat. There were scenes of utter confusion, women screaming and shivering with the cold until sheltered by nearby firemen. Others then began the removal of the dead and injured fo morgues and hospitals.
