HAVELOCK NORTH
VISITING FIRE BRIGADESMEN. The visiting firemen from Wairoa, Napier and Tomoana and their friends were entertained by the Havelock North Fire Brigade yesterday morning. The party visited the colleges and Te Mata Peak. The visitors were greatly impressed by the view of the Heretaunga Plains from the top of the hill. After leaving the Peak they proceeded to Te Mata vine cellars on the kind invitation of Mr. Riddiford, who gave a most interesting talk on vine growing and the making of wine. At the conclusion Mr. Toop. Superintendent, on behalf of the Havelock Fire Brigade, thanked Mr. Riddiford and Mr. Rowe, manager of the vineyards, for showing the firemen through and Mr. Riddiford l for his interesting talk. Superintendent Byford, of the Wairoa Brigade, spoke for the visitors. After three cheers for Mr. Riddiford and Mr Rowe the party left for the Havelock Fire Station where refreshments were handed round before the party left for their respective homes.
