THE SHOW
Dear Chief Kiwi, —Thank you for the blue certificate you awarded me. On show day the sun rose with every prospect of a good day. When break fast was over, we packed our lunch, and then a hustle and a bustle to get ready. Wo were soon amidst a tooting of horns, and the buzzing of cars, and everything was bright and busy. It was a beautiful sight to see such a queue of cars wending its way to the show grounds. Then ‘‘Tickets please,” and all cars were guided to their different parking areas. The Plulikct rooms, which were the scone of much activity, with the white clad nurses running about looking after the babies, was quite a gay building. Some babies faces were wreathed in smiles, while others cried pitifully. The dogs, who had a shed of their own this year, made a dreadful noise, the fox terriers making the most. Next, were the rabbits and fowls Tho The white rabbits were beautiful One had lovely pink eyes and very long fur, it looked the best. The fowl shed was so packed with people that one did not know where to step. Well, Chief Kiwi, as I have reached the word limit. I will continue my essay next week. With love.
—Blue certificate to Betty Spence, aged 13 years, 910 Oliphant road Hasiugs.
