Australia's Governor-General: It was announced at the Australian Labour Party office in Sidney that a motion would be submitted at a meeting of the Federal Parliamentary Labour Party at Canberra to-day for the appointment of an Australian to the position of Governor-General, in succession to Lord Stonehaven. Members supporting the proposal consider that the Chief Justice, Sir Adrian Knox should be invited to accept the position.
