The Marine Department advises that tho Government lighthouse expert, Mr. W. A. Fraser, is leaving shortly to instal an automatic flashing light at Cape Egmont in place of the present fixed light which has been in operation since 1881. —Press Assn. To-morrow evening the first of the popular fortnightly “daylight” evening sports meetings will be held by tho Hastings Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club at Nelson Park, Hastings. The committee of the Heretaunga Swimming Club met in Hastings last evening when final arrangements were made for the opening of the season next Friday evening, when a club carnival will be held in the Maddison Baths. The committee agreed to hold a big carnival on December 18, when two Australian swimmers. Greer and Ryan, will be present. It was al-o decided that Messrs. A. H-lvor. 1.. Fisher and H. Poppelwell confer with kindred clubs in Hastings with the view to arranging a series of juitcrclub carnivals..
