THE HUTT SEAT

BY-ELECTION WILL BE NECESSARY

MR. WILFORD’S RESIGNATION,

[Per Press Association.) Wellington, Nov. 13.

As the Hon. T. M. Wilford’s appointment as High Commissioner will necessitate resignation from his seat a by-election for Hutt will follow. Mr. H. D. Bennett, who contested it in 1922 in the interests of Reform, intends to be a candidate, but what party he will support is not stated. It is, perhaps, most probable that the Reform party will put up a candidate on this occasion, and it is said to be certain that the United Party will have a candidate. Mr. Walter Nash was Labour candidate at the last two elections, and it is assumed that he will again receive nomination.
