HAVELOCK NORTH

“BUY BRITISH GOODS.”

AFTERNOON ADDRESS GIVEN

Yesterday afternoon Mrs. W. Nicholson Miller entertained about 20 guests to afternoon tea at her home, Duart Road, Havelock North. The main object of the afternoon was to lay before her friends the need of supporting British industries and buying British goods. Mrs. Miller read extracts from very interesting articles which all vividly showed that British industry needed support and that it was only thus that Britain would be able to pay off her war debt to America, which amounted to £lOO,OOO a day for 62 years. Britain’s prosperity depended largely on her industries and every British subject should buy her goods, said Mrs. Miller. It was a question which needed a great deal of earnest thought, and the co-operation of the women of. New Zealand in this aim would act as a had to other British colonies.
