WAIPUKURAU STOCK SALE

FAT CATTLE PRICES LOWER. FAIRLY LARGE ENTRIES. At the weekly Waipukurau stock sale held to-day there was a large attendance of buyers. The yarding of cattle was fairly large and a moderate number of sheep came forward. Prices for fat cattle were somewhat lower than last week, and a number of lines were passed in, but there was a keen demand for young stock. Sheep: 17 fat ewes (shorn) passed at (18/6; 6 fat woolly ewes passed at 23/- (these were the only entries of fat sheep); 91 4 and 5-yr. shorn ewes (s.m.) passed at 19/6; also 62 5 and 6-yr. shorn ewes at 14/6, and 25 4 and 5-yr. shorn ewes (s.m.) at 19/6; 72 5-yr. woolly ewes, with 77 S.D. lambs, sold at 37/6.

Cattle: 7 prime Hereford and P.A. bullocks fetched £l4 15/-; 2 prime Hereford cows £lO 19’6: 1 prime bigframed Hereford bullock topped the market at £l5 2/6: 5 prime Hereford cows passed at £9 51-; 1 small Shorthorn cow sold at £9 8/-; 1 Jersey steer £8 7/6; P.A. steers £ll 8/6; 2 weighty Shorthorn bullocks passed nt £l3 10/-: 2 small heifers sold at £7 1/-: 4 prime P.A. bullocks (2 weighty and 2 medium) passed at £l3, 8 prime medium at £l2, 6 weighty Hereford bullocks at £l3 10/-. and 6 prime P.A. also at £l3 10/-; 6 P.A. heifers medium sold for £9 2/-: Hereford x cow and calf £8 15/-; Hereford heifer £lO 2/6; 4 prime P.A. cows £l2 8/-; 5 ditto heifers £l3 10/-; 4 prime Hereford and P.A. bullocks passed at £l4 2/6; 3 Hereford heifers sold for £ll 5/-.
