NEWS AND NOTES.

Yesterday afternoon a travelling Punch and Judy show and a ventriloquist gave an entertainment in the Foresters' Hall for the school children. This novel form °f' entertainment was a source of great pleasure, many of the children never having seen a Punch and Judy show before.

The Pukahu school children’s plain and fancy dress ball will take place next Friday at 7.30 p.m. This has, always been a very successful event and this year promises to eclipse all others. There will be prizes offered. The usual monthly meeting of the Havelock North Women’s Institute will be in the Village Hall tO-morrow afternoon. The chief item of .merest will bft a talk by Mrs J. H. Williams. An egg collection wilt be made and the scrap books which the members have been preparing are to be handed in. __ , _ , . .
