HIGH COMMISSIONERSHIP
SIR JAMES PAAR'S TERM OF OFFICE. DEFNITIE EXTENSION CBGED IBy Telegraph-Special to ‘ Tribune isepiember U A suggestion that the High Com missioner, Sir James Parr, shou'i have his term of office definitely ex tended was made in the House of Re presentatives last night by the Inde pendent member for Egmoiit, Mr C A. Wilkinson. Mr Wilkinson said that he understood that the term had been extended until the end of next month but that seemed to be unfair to Si. James. Sir James was apparent!, giivng complete satisfaction, and r< would be only fair to him if the a] pointment were extended for, say, six months. It could not be very satis factory to Sir James to know that his appointment might be terminated at any time within a few weeks. “I want to suggest in connection with the appointment of a new High Commissioner,” he said, ‘‘that the Government should endeavour to get the most highly qualified man in New Zealand fot the position. He wants to he a man with parliamentary experience as well as having experience of business and finance. I think the appointment is one of the most important things the Government has to consider.”
