General sympathy is expressed with Mr and Mrs G. Wall, of Beach road, Hastings, on the death of their 11 weeks’ old daughter, Bessie Elaine, who died yesterday. The funeral will leave the residence for tho Hastings Cemetery to morrow (Saturday) at 10 a.m.

A well known native chief, Te Mohi, who lived at Northcote, Auckland, died on Tuesday, aged 92 years. He was one of the last of the leading chiefs who fought in the Waikato Wars and took part in fights at Bangiriri and other centres. He was a staunch lipporter of the King-ite move ment. To Mohi was tho son of John Cowell, a Scotsman who married a native princess.

The death occurred at the Napier Hospital yesterday of Mr Timothy Twomey, who bad been engaged on the staff of the Albert Hotel, Hastings for tho past eighteen months. Tho deceased, who was 40 years of ago, and a native of County Clare, Ireland, arrived in New Zealand, with his wife, a couple,of years ago, settling in Hastings. Ho was an ex-member of Ihe Royal Irish Constabulary. During liis residence in this district ho made ninny friends, and was very popular amongst a large c.rcio of acquaintances. He leaves a widow and two children, tho eldest throe years old, to mourn their loss and with them, much sympathy is expressed. The funeral will leave the Catholic Chnrch for the Hastings Cemetery to-morrow (Saturday) at 1.45 p.m.
