Remarkable stories of gang warfar* in the Alexandria district, with th* Town Hull as a battle ground, wer* told by Aidermen at a meeting of the Council. One stated that h* and the Mayor had been threatened* and he applied for permission t* carry a revolver. On the last three occasions ofl which functions were held in th* Town Hall there had been seriou* fights, he said, and the police had t* subdue them. Two men were taken to the hospital as a result of th* fights. The Council decided to conJ fer with the police for protection of the district from gangs.
