DESPERATE PLIGHT

TRAINS OF PRISONERS AT HARBIN FROM CHINESE EASTERN RAILWAY STATIONS. THOUSANDS OF WORKERS’ HOMES PILLAGED. (United Press Association—By CableCopyright.] (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.! (Received 5, 9.45 a.m.) Moscow, September 4. The Tass Agency alleges that trains of prisoners are arriving daily at Harbin from stations in the Chinese Eastern Railway, with the doors closed throughout the trip, despite the prisoners’ appeals, and they were given very little water. Thousands of children are in a desperate plight, and forced to accompany their parents or remain without food or shelter.

Thousands of workers’ homes along the route have been pillaged by the Chinese, who evidently are attempting the total annihilation of the Soviet colony.
