PLUNKET SOCIETY
HASTINGS BRANCH. MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Royal N.Z. Society for the Health of Women and Children vas held on Tuesday. Present: Mias Williams (chair), Mesdames Buchanan, Nelson, J. H. Williams, McLeod, Maddison, Roach, Stubbs, and the assistant hon. secretary. The nurses’ report for August, submitted to the meeting, read as follows: —New cases 22, visitors to office 995, visits to homes 460, advice over telephony 118, letters received 1, letters written 1. The usual business was dealt with and accounts passed for payment. A circular to branches was received re interim conference, etc., to be held in Wellington on October 3rd and 4th, the president and assistant hon. secretary to attend. Mrs- Maddison and Mrs. Stubbs were appointed visiting committee for the ensuing month. The following subscriptions were acknowledged with thanks:—Mesdames A. 8. Tonkin, Geo. McLeod, A. E. Orr, B. Wenley. C. T. Ander. son, G. A. Maddison, and M. Eves. NAPIER BRANCH MEETING. The Napier branch of the Plunket Society held its monthly meeting yesterday. Present.: Mesdames Vautier (presiding), Henley, Maclean, Kelly, R: uce Bear, Newton, Gilray, Cornford, Napier, Saunders, Cradwick, McClurg, Geddis, Wood, Humphries, Fussell, Miss Loudon and the honorary secretary. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Secular, Poster, Ringland, Drake, Latham and Hodge. An entertainment, “The Marriage of Kitty, 1 ' will bo given in aid of the society’s funds in the Cosmopolitan Hall on September 16th; an interim conference of members of the executive council of the Plunket Society will be held in Wellington on October '3rd and 4th. The nurses’ report was as follows: —Number of cases on list, 639; visits to homes, 447; visits to yoonis, adults 499, babies 481; new badies for month, 14; advice over 'phone, 167; letters received 21, written 20.
