BAND ROTUNDA.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—On Sunday last I paid a visit to our beautiful Cornwall Dark to listen to our excellent band, it being my first visit since the mass of con crete was erected. (I understand it is called a “tea kiosk and band rotunda.”) The chief fault is the utter failure as a bund rotunda. Who ever thought out this brilliant idea knew little or nothing of the requirements for this purpose. To hear the band at its best, one must go out on the main road surrounding the park. I believe the council propose to remove the high rails and concrete corner blocks and pub a roof over the platform. As a ratepayer I trust they will not waste more money on this building. They may slightly improve the results, but it can never be made a success. Far better to take the few hundred pounds it would require, add a little more to it, and build a decent rotunda. The old platform was far better than this new makeshift. I feel sure that if the council will only consult, the officers of the bund, they will come to some satisfactory arrangements. Had this been done before the present makeshift would not have been built. —Yours etc., RATEPAYER. Hastings, 4/9/29.
