TOWN BO ABD MEETING, !' (Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Monday night. Present: Messrs J. N. Barrie (chair), A. G. lark, A. H. Bull, J. T. Bartlett and A. Acott Correspondence was received, from the Minister of Internal Affairs re the war memorial The secretary of the school committee ask the board to grant the use of the Town Hall for tho annual fancy dress carnival on September 15 on the same terms as usual. This was agreed to. Mr A. Acott paid in £5 ss, the last amount on his coUeo tion list for the Earthquake Fund, bringing the total to £BO 15s Bd. Two tenders were received for printing the balance-sheets, that of the Waipawa “Mail’’ being accepted Further arrangements were made in connection with taking a poll of ratepayers on the proposed water scheme, and it is hoped that this will be finalised this month. It was decided that grazing licenses be issued as from September 16, the fee to be 10s per head, paid in advance. The clerk reported that all the rate notices had been issued, and that those desirous of participating in the 5 per cent, rebate must pay by September 30. GENERAL. On Saturday afternoon the ladies’ basketball team defeated a men’s team. by 10 to 2. Mr E. H, Burling, who has been an inmate of the Waipukurau Hosupital, suffering from a poisoned hand, is now well enough to leave that institution. Mr Sheppard is also an out-patient, though he has still to use crutches.
