MANCHESTER UNITY

LOYAL HASTINGS LODCE. QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Loyal Hastings Lodge, M.U.O.F. was held at the Oddfellows’ Hall on Thursday last, Bro. J. M. Angus, N.G. presiding. Three candidates were initiated into the Order and several friends were elected for membership. The initiation ceremony was carried out by Bros. Angus, Sturm, Douglas, Smith, and Sister A. Goertz. The delegates to the Friendly Societies’ Council reported that the present (agreement between the Council and the Hospital Board ceases on the 31st August. The management committee assured the members that their interests would be safeguarded and that arrangements for future treatment were in progress. Pending the completion of the new agreement, temporary arrangements are being made and members requiring urgent treatment are to notifv their secretary before admission to hospital. Letters of recommendation were granted the Bros R. F. P. A. Morley and W. J. Woon. The usual grant from the management fund was made towards the expenses of the forthcoming children’s Christmas gathering, the date and place to he decided at a later meeting. The selection of gifts was left in the hands of the secretary. The social committee announced that their programme for the T2th September would include songs .instrumental items, recitations and impromptu speeches. The business part of the meeting will conclude at 8.30 after which friends of members will be admitted and entertained hv the social committee. The quarterly medical accounts for £365 6s were passed for payment.
