WAR RELIEF

NAPIER COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the Napier branch committee of the Hawke’s Bay War Relief Association was held yesterday afternoon. The statement of payments and receipts for August, 1929, was placed before the meeting and adopted. This showed that tho transactions for the month had been as follow:—Grants to 45 soldiers £204 10/5, giants to 5 dependenis, £29; loans to 12 soldiers £278 7/10, total £5ll 18/3. Loans refunded by 41 soldiers £l6O 7/4, loans refunded on account nf other societies £2l. Total, £lBl 7/4. The committee decided that thirteen grants amounting to £7B 9/8 and two loans amounting to £62 1/6 bo made in connection with the applications before the meeting. It was also decided to recommend to the provincial executive that one grant amounting to £44 and two loans amounting to £l4O be made by tho association.
