A SUDDEN DEATH
MAN EXPIRES AFTER MILKJM COWS. Igi HEART DISEASE THE CAUSIM An inquest was held in HastinJM this morning concerning the death ofl Alfred Hoy, aged 47, who was emO pioyed at Glenalvon station and wh<B died there suddenly last Saturday 9 about 5 p.m. ■ Mr. A. A. George, J. P., acted afl coroner, and the following jury werfl sworn Messrs F. C. NewricW Joseph Stenson, W. A. Mclntyre® and J. L. Dunn. I Edward Aloysius Saunders, a trad® conductor living in Wellington® idsnij£MsJhe body as .that of hi® father-in-law. The deceased wassjnai® ried, but was separated from Hi® wife. His health was goed up t<fl about four years ago, when he fel® down a hatch in Wellington and hfl was in hospital for six or weeks. He was treated for hearfl trouble in the hospital. Since leaving tho hospital he frequently coinplainefl of his heart. 9 Alexander Gardner deposed thafl the deceased was employed at Glenal® von station (Mr Lyons) as a gardner, for five weeks. He often complained of shortne** breath. During Saturday he had been working in the gardenß He had just finished milking the cow® at about 5 p.m. when, whilst witne*® was talking to him, he gaspel® swayed and hung an to a gate. dropped before witness could him, and, as he dropped, he uiqß “I am gone." W’ith witness carried the deceased to Hfl whare. but when the body arrinfl there, there were no sigrts of life, fl Richard C. Roberts, med®H practitioner, deposed that, when Ifl arrived at the station about 6 p.ntfl deceased was dead. From appearawM there was no doubt that the deeeaMlfl suffered, us a child, from acuifl rheumatic fever. That affected hifl heart. Tho condition of his heajM was such as to cause a sudden in a man of his age and appearance.
