GAME FOWLS
THE AUCKLAND CLUB.
At a meeting of the Auckland Game Fowl Club, presided over by Mr Albert Wood, on Tuesday last, it was decided to launch out in their own show this year, th.c <’ “ ’• settled on being July 25th and 26th. A sub-committee was set up to go into the arrangements for the sche chile, and as this club has twelve very fine trophies, and present, indications are very satisfactory, it is anticipated to stage between 150 and 200 birds, including Bantams. A matter of importance to. fanciers generally was that of obtaining the services of a southern judge, and. if this can be arranged satisfactorily financially, it will no doubt ba decided on. As this breed is recognised as the king of poultry, and as records tell us of past Sovereigns of England having fought cocks and kept their own cock-nits, til] the passing of the Act prohibiting cock-fighting, it will no doubt be of interest to many tn know that this grand old breed still flourishes. Tn fact, it is not many weeks since the police of Christchurch. New Zealand, were making enquiries regarding the existence of a cock-pit somewhere in. that ctiy, but were unable to locate it.
