Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterdaj convicted Charles Henry Lockhart Tucker, confectioner, at Kilbirnie, Wellington, on a charge of selling liquor without a license. Following a sale to tho police, a raid was made on the defendant’s place, and a considerable quantity of liquor was seized. Mr Hunt had no hesitation in accepting the police story, and lined him £25. in default three months’ imprisonment. Mr Bunt added: “And in my opinion he has told lies and committed perjury.’ l A charge against Olaf Johnson of being illegally in the premises was dismissed. the Magistrate saying there was some doubt.
