WOOL MARKET
NAPIER SALE ON MONDAY. OVER 28,000 BAI.ES TO BE OFFERED. For the wool sale opening at Napier on Monday morning next, a total of 28,300 bale a will be submitted to a full bench of operators, representative of practically every country. Among them are a number of new faces who, in the last two offerings, competed freely for styles to their liking. The offerings for this season have included some of the finest wool crown in Hawke’s Bay for many years, and in Monday’s offering the quality is in advance of that generally submitted at the later sales of each season. A review of the catalogue showa that although moat of the clips are late-shorn, there are quite a number of lots of excellent quality, which will be high yielding. Among the better types are a number of bales of AA hoggets and good quality lambs’ wool, which were probably shut out of the last offering or arrived late at the stores owing to transport not being available. The bulk of the fleece wool ig lateshorn, being from either high country or from backblock areas. The wet weather during November and December had in a measure helped to account for the heavy condition much of it is in. Clips from the coast and Southern Hawke's Bay nre as usual among the outstanding lots, and a noticeable feature among those clips is the attention which is given to skirting and classing. For American requirements there will not be a big percentage, but operetors on hehalf of the Continent, particularly France and Germany, will find plenty to their lilting. Besides the inferior-styled lots there will be a number of lambs’ and hoggets’, which will command their attention. I(OCal scourers will have a big field to operate in without any substantial opposition. Although values at recent sates at other centres have shown a decline all round, there is every reason to believe that Monday’s offering will ba quite satisfactory to the growers.
