Mrs A. E. O’Meara left Hastings this morning to join her husband at Auckland, on the eve of their departure on a holiday tour in the United States and the Home Country; A large number of her friends assembled at the railway station to bid her farewell and to wish her a safe return.

The death is reported from Auckland of the Rev. Laurence Thompson, M.A., Presbyterian minister. His last permanent charge was Carterton, although he was later at Island Bay Wellington. Mr Thompson took his degree at Otagn University and was Trained at Theological Hall. Dunedin. His wife, who is an aunt of Miss M Sutherland. Hastings, is principal of the Girls’ College nt Solway, Masterton.—(Press Association.)
