Vineyards in the Whangarei district have been affected this season with a strange disease of a similar type to that which swept the wineproducing countries of Europe some years afo (says an exchange). Unlike ordinary blight, the scourge does not affect the roots, but deadens the leaves and the vines. One winemaker estimates his loss al 15 tons of grapes. Other similar cases are reported.
