TALLOW MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 16th inst:— Tallow: We quote present c.i.f. and e. values for the following descriptions of tallow:—Fine mutton 43/per cwt, good beef 43/-, mixed 40/-. (Last quotations 4/1/29). Fino mutton 43/-, good beef 43/-, mixed 39/6. WOOL. Murray, Roberts and Go., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house:—
Greasy Merlnn, except best descriptions, par to 5 per cent, decline; slips crossbred, par to 5 per cent, decline; slipe fine crossbred, shows greatest decline. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 19th inst., from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: Tallow: Spot market more active at slightly easier prices. Present quotations are:—Mutton, fine 45/per cwt, fair to good 44/- per cwt; beef, fair to good 38/6 to 42/- per cwt, dark to dull 37/- to 37/6; mixed, fair to good 38/- to 41/- per cwt, dark to dull 37/- to 37/6; gut, etc., 35/6 to 37/6. Wool: Sales continue well attended with good competition. Home trade securing fair share of offerings. Opening rates about maintained. WAIPUKURAU STOCK SALE.
The Hawke’s Bay Stockbrokers report as follows on the Waipukurau sale held yesterday. To a large attendance of the public a very small yarding of sheep were submitted. Bidding for good rape lambs was exceptionally keen, and all sheep were keenly sought after. The following is a range of prices ruling:—F. and f. wethers 30/-, f. and f. early shorn 2-th wethers 29/6, 4 and 5-yr sound mouth ewes 22/- to 26/7, cull sound mouth ewes 16/6 to 19/3. 4, 6 and 8-th ewes 28/10, 2-th ewes 34/-, shorn wether lambs (good) 22/6, rape S.D. lambs 22/- to 24/6, rape Romney
