OVER HALF A MILLION SUBSCRIBED. PRINCE TO TOUR COALFIELDS. [British Official Wireless.] Rugby, Jan. 19. The Mansion House fund for the relief of distress in the coalfields amounted last evening to about £530,000. The “Daily News” says that the Prince of Wales will shortly tour some of the principal coalfields and see the distress among 300,000 unemployed miners and their families. He will visit their homes viewing the derelict collieries, observing the stagnation into which some of the areas have sunk, and gaining a first-hand knowledge before further broadcastinc an appeal for funds. The Prince intimated that he does not want civic receptions or ceremonies.
