BASKET BALL
H.B. CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH. THE TWO TEAMS FOR TOMORROW. At 3 o’clock to-morrow afternoon, at Ebbett Park, Hastings, the Hawke’s Bay Basketball championship will be played between the Napier High School team and the Hastings White Hawk team. Mrs R. I Mclnnes, president of the New Zealand Basketball Association, will be present at the match. The White Hawks’ team won the Hastings championship, having gone through the season with an unbeaten record. The members of the team are as follow:—M. Lean (cap tain), M. Melrose. M. (Hark, J. Irvine. N. Clark, M. Manning, E. McCullough, E. Compton, and E. Baird. Of hese girls, M. Lean, J. Irvine, M. Manning, E. Compton, M. Melrose, and E. Baird have represented Hawke’s Bay in the New Zealand tournaments, and the experience they have gained therein has contributed largely towards the splendid record of their team. The Napier High School teain is as follows: —Z. Giorgi (captain), W. Moorhead, P t Northe. M. Shand, M. South, D. Amner, E. Moore, N. We'llwood. M. Gillies. This team is undoubtedly the best in Napier, although. so far, their competitions are not finish 'd. The Napier Association was firmed in May of this .year and ns yet the High School team is unbeaten. The match for the Hawke’s Bay championship should provide a good exhibition of basketball. r ’*he game will he controlled by Mrs S. Nesbitt (Hastings) and Mrs Boyce (Napier).
