HAWKE’S BAY HOTELS

LICENSING COMMITTEE MEETS. NO BLACK MARKS RECORDED. The quarterly meeting of the Hawke's Bav Licensing Committee was held in Hastings this morning, when Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M., presided. Associated on the Bench with him were Messrs A. Rosenberg, A. A. George, G. 11. Dixon and J. D. Donovan. A. H. McCarthy made an application for a renewal of an accommodation license for the Mohak* Hotel, which was destroyed by fire last October. The applicant was granted a license to u*e the billiard room as a bar. The Bench expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of definite arrangements and plans for the new building. The temporary license was granted until December; in the meantime plans are to be submitted. A permanent transfer of the license of the Pukctapu Hotel from Thomas Lanigan to Russell Donald was grunted. A similar transfer for the Carlton Club Hotel wag made from J, H. White to Nellie M. Truman. The chairman of the committee stated that the nolice reports indicated good conduct on the part of tile various licensees throughout the district. There were no black marks against anv of the licensees, a fact that was indeed pleasing.
