An unusual experience befel Mr. J. Paul, an employee at the Gas-works in Hastings, yesterday. He was joining up pipes when he inhaled some of the gas and was rendered unconscious for a minute or two. A large crowd gathered round, but Mr. Paul resumed his labours after a few minutes’ rest, none the worse for his experience. A motor smash occurred at a hend on the main road south near the Paki Paki brick-works yesterday afternoon. It appears that a car driven by a Mr. Dobson, of Auckland, and another car belonging to Vise Herrick, of Lighthouse mad, Nnpier. and driven bv a Mr. Rohson. collided at the bend on the road. Fortunately no one was injured, but the cars were damaged.
