MOTHERS’ UNION

HAVELOCK NORTH BRANCH. In the absence of Canon McLean, the usual opening service for the Havelock North branch of the Mothers’ Union on Thursday took placo in the Village Hall. The presiding member. Mrs Turner Williams, was present fornart of the afternoon, and later Mrs Clifton, hoq. secretary, presided over the gathering. The work for the occasion was the cutting-out and stitching of surplices is a gift for the clergy in Melanesia. Two sewing machines were provided, and excellent work was done. Mrs Rich was in charge of the needlework. Afternoon tea was provided and a pleasant time spent by all.
