BUTTONHOLES STILL THE VOGUE

The dainty little bouttoniere is still a necessary adjunct to milady’s toilette. Artificial silk is being turned to good account by French fingers, one of the latest buttonholes of tailored trend being the camellia of artificial silk. Iron-grey, beige and black and white is the favourite selection for this severe trend. Crepe de chine in red and white stripes is starched to well-launderedl stiffness, and muslin of the finest texture is also subjected to the new starching process. The double marguerite is another- popular choice. The stiff leaves are most effective in giving the tailored effect. There is a new fabric which resembles suede in appearance and the chosen colour for buttonholes is sulphur. The camellia and the dahlia are favourite blossoms, and they are made also in coloured kids, but the real novelty in buttonholes is composed of chocolate coloured clematis and white wool violets.

Dark rubber red is another favourite of the moment, and rubber flowers are still seen with sports clothes, but blossoms of shining macintosh are preferred.
