ST. MATTHEW’S, HASTINGS
WELCOME TO REV. H. SPEIGHT.
A most enjoyable social was held in St. Matthew’s Parish Hall, Hastings. on Wednesday evening last, for the purpose of welcoming the Rev. H. Speight and Mrs Speight, and to farewell Mr Levine. The hall was artistically decorated for the occasion by a committee of ladies, and there was a large attendance of parishioners. Speeches were delivered by the vicar (Rev. Mortimer-Jones), and MiBarton Hobbs, the Rev. Speight and Mr Levine responding. Games and competitions, followed by an enjoyable supper, made a very pleasant evening’s entertainment.. In the course of the proceedings the following contributed items: — Recitations, Miss Betty Ward and Miss Collins; instrumental trio. Mr C. B. Spinney Mr Maddock, and Mr File; songs. Mr E. Rivers and Mr F. Thomas; flute solo (accompanied by Mr Spinney), Mr File.
