WEDDING

GAY—HAMPTON

A very pretty wedding wzz solemnised on Wednesday evening last at St. Andrew's Church, Waipukurau. Ths Rev. McLean officiated. The bride was Leatham Hampton, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Hampton, of Wimbledon, and the bridegroom, Peter Gow Gay. eldest son of Mr and Mrs C. Gay, of Church street, Waipukurau. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very sweet in her wedding frock of ivory georgette, most beautifully beaded. Her tulle veil, held lightly in place with sprays of orange blossom, was a pretty finish, and her silver shoes shower bouquet of pink and white roses and maidenhair completed her dainty attire. Miss Aileen Ryan, who was chief bridesmaid, wore a picture frock of pale apple-green georgette, with vandyked frills of pale green panne velvet. Mita Nereda Hampton, the bride’s sister was also in a picture frock of apricot georgette made in the same design. Both bridesmaids wore silver shoes, and their bouquets were of roses.

Little flower girls were Miss Joan Hampton, wearing pink crepe-de-chine, and Miss Betty McLean, in blue crepe-de-chine Both frocks were cut with vandyked frills, and they wore tulle caps caught with a French P° s r. Mr. Basil White carried out the duties of best man, and the groomsman was Mr. Hector Murray. The church had been beautifully decorated for the ceremony by the bride's friends, with greenery and flowers.

After the ceremony a reception and dance was held in the Masonic Hall, where the usual toasts were honoured. Mrs Hampton, the bride's mother, was wearing a black beaded oeorgette dress, and carried a bouquet of violets. Mrs Gay. the bridegroom's mother, was in navy blue georgette, accordeon pleated, with relief of beige lace, and her bouquet was of violets.

After receiving the congratulations of their friends the happy couple left by car for the south. The bride travelled in a bronze crepe-de-chine dress relieved with fawn georgette and prettily braided A fur coat was worn, and also a smart hat and footwear of ti)e same shading.
