Replying to a question in the House of Commons regarding the Japanese status in Manchuria, the Foreign Secretary said His Majesty’s Government regards Manchuria as being part of China and does not recognise Japan as having any special interests in that territory other than those conferred by treaty and those referred to in Baron Shidehara’s statement at the plenary session at the Washington conference in February, 1922.
