MANCHESTER UNITY

LOYAL HASTINGS LODGE. FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Hastings Lodge, No. 629') M.U.O.F. was held on Thursday last, P.G. Bro. P. J. Priest, N.G., presiding. Five subscribing members and ono honorary member were initiated into tho Order the charges being given by Bros, driest, Sturm and Fargher. Bro. Farmer gave tho sign and first degree lecture to the newly initiated members. Nine friends were proposed for membership. Lodge honours were accorded to P.D.G.M. Bro. Steer a visitor from Midhurst Lodge, Taranaki district, who in responding thanked the members for the welcome extended and congratulated the lodge on the large attendance of young members and businesslike manner in which the meeting was conducted. The financial secretary (Bro. J. J. S. George) presented the halt-yearly statement on accounts which showed the following position: “Liabilities: Sick fund (cr.) £9,947 6s sd; management fund (cr.) £44 Is 6d, medical fund (cr.) £lO 13s, members’ surplus funds (cr) £3695 12s, benevolent foun-i (cr.) £63 16s Bd, investment account (cr.) £257 8p 3d. Assets: On mortage £11,931 10s, war relief fund £249 8s 9d, land and building £1 300 16s 5d dispensary debentures £5O hall fund (dr.) £33 4s, other lodge's account (dr.) £lB 2s lid. National Provident fund (dr.) £3O cash book credit, bal ance £405 15s 3d. Total worth of funds £14,018 17s 4d.

A clearance was granted to Bro. T. M. Travis who is leaving for Alanais, and a letter of recommendation was granted to Bro. L. J, Sturm now residing at Auckland.

HASTINGS JUVENILE LODGE.

Tho monthly meeting on the Hastings Juvenile Oddfellows’ Longo M.U.0.F., was held last Friday evening, Sister M. Hopcraft, presiding. P.G. Bros. Cunnold,’ superintendent presented several 'new members with their certificates and recognition badges and addressed -he meeting oa tho duties of members and officers. P.D.G.M. Bro. Steer, Loyal Midhurst Lodge, and Bro.‘ D. F. Sturm representing the adult lodge were precent, and their report »n the working of tho lodge will be placed before the next meeting. Tho financial sccretaty reported that in addition to the reserve fund £lO of the lodge’s own funds were now invested with the district.
