TAKAPAU.
(Own Correspondent), A football match between the Waipawa and Waipukurau School Convent teams and the Takanau District School was played l at Takapau on Saturday,, the visitors winning by 23 points to nil. A senior match between the local fifteen and the Waipukurau Rovers played at Takapau, also went in favour fo the visitors to the tune of 29 points to nil. A mixed four-ball was played on the Takapau links on Saturday for club trophies when the best cards were as follow:—Mrs. Prescott and T. Prescott, 3 up.; Mrs. Hobson and E. T. Stubbs, 2 up; Mrs. Davies and W. H, Davies, 2 up; Miss Craig and J, Smith, 1 up; Miss Cuthbertson and G. Davies, 1 up; Mrs. Power and J. O’Dowd, 1 down. The annual meeting of the Takapau Ploughing Club was held on Friday evening when there was a good attendance of members. The report and balance-sheet, both of a very satisfactory nature, were read and received. The following officers were elected Patron, Sir George Hunter M.P.; president, Mr. F. A, Thompson; vice-presidents, R. A. Fraser, T. Bennett, W. Hobson, F. G. De’Stacpoole, H. A. Speedy and N. M. Paulsen. Mr. B. C. Morton was reelected as honorary secretary and a strong general committee and subcommittee were set up. It was decided to hold >lie annual ploughing match on Julj 11 and to have two classes, A and B. as well as tractor ploughing, as the latter is becoming common in the district. Arrangements were niadi for the usual horse jumping competitions to be held at the ploughing match and matters in Connection with the annual smoke concert receive attention.
