A Dutch seamen, Abraham van Katwyk, aged 37, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington with destering from the Port Nicholson in June, 1926. It was stated that the accused left the ship with the intention of settling in the Dominion and was described as a steady, thrifty worker. A remand was granted pending consideration of accused’s application to remain in New Zealand.
