A bitter two days’ debate in the Assembly arose out of the AuditorGeneral surcharging the Minister of Posts with £l2l for the use of a motor car for a private purpose which the Premier subsequently condoned. General Smuts to-day said he regarded the allegation against the auditor as most grave, and demanded a judicial enquiry. The Premier offered to set up a committee of Parliamentarians to enquire into the matter, and this the Opposition accepted.
