HASTINGS HIGH SCHOOL
MEETING OF PARENTS’ LEAGUE. GENERAL BUSINESS TRANSACTED. A meeting of the Hastings High School (parents) League was held last evening, when Mr F. S. Budd presided over an attendance of twenty members. The secretary (Mr E. A. Murlcy) presented a detailed statement of the funds raised in connection with the garden fete, also a statement showing the financial position of the League. There was a credit balance of £132 13s 7d at present and the League had handed over to the board £74 15s and £3l 5s 7d for additions to library etc. and for the purchase of a motor mower, respectively. The chairman in moving the adoption of the statement, expressed the League's thanks to all those who had assisted in making the garden fete such a success. He outlined the proceedure adopted in handing over money to the board, and assured those present that any scheme or proposal made by the board was thoroughly investigated by the League before the work was authorised to be carried out with the League’s money. There was considerable discussion on the question of holding social conversaziones during the winter months. It was finally decided that a sub-com-mittee from the League join with members of the board, and meet the members of the school staff on the question of holding a social evening on June 22. It was also decided to ask the principal to have the pupils inquire of their parents whether or not they would be attending such a social evening, the object being to find out about how many parents would be present, so that suitable arrangements could be made for a hall. It was decided that ribbon badges be purchased and forwarded to the members of the League. This would serve the purpose of a receipt for League membership.
