EFFORT TO SECURE PUBLIQ HALL.
CANVAS TO BE MADE. Every effort is being made bv the Greenmeadows residents te have a public hall for the district, and on Thursday night a most enthusiastic meeting of the members of the Progressive League was held with a view to ascertaining what support such a proposal would receive. Sketch plans for a hall having an auditorium of 60 feet by 30 feet wejjs submitted to the meeting and unanimously approved It was decided to make a canva« of the district for financial snpport. It was stated that provided the sum of £3OO could be found by the residents an offer guaranteeing the remainder at most reasonable terms would be forthcoming. A section adjoining the creek in Avenue road has been purchased) which should prove an idea] site. About £BO in cash and labour were promised in the room. < At the present the residents are indebted to Mr Badley for the placing of his large store-room at their disposal for any form of imertainment. )
