IN BANKRUPTCY
A SALESMAN’S FAILURE. A meeting of creditors was held in Hastings this morning in the bankrupt estate of Walter Henry Campbebll, salesman, of Hastings. The statement of affairs showed that a total of £331 7/1 is owing to unsecured creditors. Bankrupt was not present, having a breakdown with jiis car on the way from Auckland. There was no personal statement submitted, and nq creditors were present. The Official Assignee (Mr. C. G. Chisholm) mentioned that according to law a bankrupt was required to file his papers with the Official Assignee within three days of his bankruptcy. hut very often this was not done. He had sometimes to go down on bended knee to get bankrupts to provide him with a list of creditors. Mr. Averill, who appeared for bankrupt, assured the Official Assignee that there were no assets in the estate.
