Sir Austen Chamberlain stated that he did not conduct any negotiations with King Amanullah of Afghanistan or his acting Minister fo r Foreign Affairs during the recent Royal visit to this country. He did, however, have an opportunity of discussing with His Majesty and His Excellency tile general question of AngloArghan relations, a.nd of explaining khat the earnest wish of the British Government was to see the establishment of a strong and independent Arghanistan. Asked whether any negotiations were under consideration for the removal of restrictions on imports to India, Sir Austen Chamberlain in the House of Commons said he thought that conversations on the matter had been proceeding, and that no doubt these would be continued.
