Commenting on the cabled advice from New York of the flotation of the Commonwealth loan of '£10,000,000 issued at £92 10/-, financial circles declare that the New Zealand loan was floated here on much better terms, and moreover as tho New Zealand loan was oversubscribed, the deduction is permissible that there was sufficient money for the Commonwealth loan, on the same terms as N'ew Zealand obtained, would be available here. Steps have been taken by the Washington State Department to ensure the acceptance of Canadian currency in all centres in tne United’ States. At present many places regard the Canadian dollar as of no more value than Russian paper.
