H.B. RADIO SOCIETY.
VISIT OF NAPIER ENTHUSIASTS. AN ENJOYABLE EVENING. Mr George Tong, in the absence of the president occupied the chair at a meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Radio Society held in Hastings last night. There was an attendance of thirty members, in addition to which a considerable number of listeners from Napier were present. The chairman extended a warm welcome to the Napier visitors. In replying, Mr Apperley said that the Napier Society intended to revive its meetings, when he hoped that a frequent change of visits would take place between the two societies. The secretary reported that the canvassing committee appointed to raise funds for establishing a radio receiver and head phones at the Hastings Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, had received a donation of £2O from Mr W. Shrimpton, of Matapiro, in addition to many smaller sums co'llected elsewhere, the total in hand and promised amounting to nearly £5O. Dr. Ziele (Napier) intimated that the Napier Club was about to institute a similar movement to supply an outfit in the Napier Hospital. In this regard it was decided that each club should assist the other.
The following new members were enrolled. Messrs C. Dixon, D. Irwin, C. W. Chadwick, A. Annan, F. Lusher and J. W. V. hfasterman. Mr D. Rees delivered a very interesting lecture on “Wired Radio” and at the conclusion he was accorded a vote of thanks.
After partaking of supper, the meet ing dispersed.
