BOXING
.CASEY DEFEATS BROADFOOT. OTHER BOUTS AT GREYMOUTH. Greymouth April 8. A professional boxing contest for the New Zealand middle-weight cham pionship between Jim Broadfoot and Harry Casey, last night, went 15 rounds, Casey being the winner on points, after a very good bout. Broadfoot boxed well though once ho was down for nine, but Cnscy was superior both in attack and defence giving his finest exposition here to date. In a welter match, J. Moynahan (Rununga) drew with Jack Nelson (Greymouth) while D. Richardson (Waiuta) ueloated M. Kiely (Greymouth) in a feather-weight bout, and W. Duggan (Runanga) won from .1. Andrews (Greymouth) in a lightweight match. TIGER PAYNE REGISTERS K.O. Sydney, April 8. At the Stadium Tiger Payne knocked out George Thompson in the fifth round of a 15-ronnd contest. Thompson was severely punished before lie was knocked out with a heavy right to the jaw.
